2013 Book Club Book Nominations
Hello Adult Librarian,
Here are my nominations for this year.
My first nomination is The Princess Hoppy or the Tale of Labrador by Jacques Roubaud. In this charming and witty tale, Princess Hoppy is troubled by the intrigues and machinations of her scheming aunts and uncles, but is supported by her talking, puzzle-solving dog.
My second nomination is Learning Processes with a Deadly Outcome by Alexander Kluge. In the wake of a great and devastating war, the various governments of the human race attempt to reconstruct cultures and economies, but they are only partially successful, and the results are more like a distorted parody.
My third nomination is Une Semaine De Bonte: A Surrealistic Novel in Collage by Max Ernst. The title translates as “A Week of Kindness”. Herein, the author reveals the shocking relationship between the seven deadly elements and the days of the week, and there are lots of birds and lions too.
Thank you very much for your work and your consideration,
857 on a Monday night

More About Zelda Fitzgerald
Hello Adult Librarian,
Well since you asked ... The Fitzgeralds are featured in the graphic novel Going Home by Dave Sim and Gerhard. The author discusses his research in the back matter of the individual comic books. Another biography of Zelda Fitzgerald is Zelda Fitzgerald and the Failure of the American Dream for Women, by Koula Svokos Hartnett. The film The Last Time I Saw Paris is available for free at the internet archive.

High Society Download
So a really cool book I tried to nominate two and three years ago is being digitized. The first chapter, which is relatively self-contained, is available for free download at the following link.

January Book Club Meeting
Apparently, our fearless adult librarian has some sort of program planned.
http://www.ifpladult.blogspot.com/2012/10/mark-your-calendars.html
I do not know where it is taking place, but on January 7, 2013 the IFPL-centric Monday night book club will meet there ( I am guessing the library. ) to attend the program. Afterwards, the club will either stay in the same place or go somewhere else to discuss Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout which is about a grouchy retired school teacher and stuff.
